Hello all.

This will be the last week with lots of work for the concert on the 19th!!.
After that finally some extra time to update all Groove sites and
start adding new titles. We have a lot of news for you coming June.
I have cut my regular job in half from May 1st so now I have 6 Days a week time
to run Groove. We have had a great first year running it our self.
It has been an amazing and intense ride but we feel Groove is a life
and kicking.
And Monique and I want to thank all of you who have ordered in the last year.
We have added over 600 titles to our catalog this last year.
We are now 14 Groove own releases further (that is more then one a month!!) we
have reprinted 7 titles and I am happy to announce that coming July we have
some very nice new releases planned.

We are also still working on the download platform for all Groove releases
hope to have that in the air in July. we are working very hard on this.

This extra time I have now gives me time to get new labels and artists in.
So the big question is what are you missing in our catalog.
Give me an idea of what you would like us to add!! What is lacking?
Ambient, New Age, Progressive mail me the names and I will be on the
way to get it. And always for the best price I can make for you.

But first!!! Synthesizers: check... Grand piano: check... Percussion:
check...2 Violins + cello: check... 10-piece choir: check...C.Müller
Organ: check ...
Only 8 days to go to the Great Church performance together with
Remy Stroomer, Eric van der Heijden, Harold van der Heijden, e.a.
This definitely is a concert I have been looking forward to a lot!

Verwulft, Haarlem

Released is one of Tangerine Dreams favorite albums re-mastered
Le Parc. http://www.groove.nl/cd/1/11190.html and it sounds great.
As all other re-releases have a great new dynamic sound.

We introduced Kebu - To Jupiter and back
2 weeks ago and it is this weeks best seller of non Groove titles!!
And the reactions
on this release are great, the only complaint that I hear is that the
styles are so diverse
going form Vangelis, Jarre to Peru that you ask your self how does
one artist master
so many styles and get that perfect sound on a CD.
And second on our best sales list is the brand new Awenson - Saphonic
http://www.groove.nl/cd/2/21689.html for those who love Berlin school a must!!

And the Ron Boots - 80's box with the special price of only € 29.00
is also at the top
of the chart!! So we will add another week for that special deal!!
6 CD's of my earliest work, re-mastered with a great small book about
the period
that I made music until that.

I know also had a listen to the new Klaus Schulze. La Vie Electronic 11.
http://www.groove.nl/cd/3/37263.html and now I am double glad for my tribute
to the grand master of EM!! A jewel again with a few of Schulze
finest tracks in
my opinion.

Today Saturday 12th of May Rene Splinter plays Live in the Bochum Planetarium.
info here http://www.renesplinter.com/The_Event_Horizon_Concert.html
Groove will have a small stall there so come by for a talk!!

Dreamscape is due to the concert preparations the same as last week.

Awenson, Kebu, Harald Nies e.a. Dreamscape Radio show 187 is now on-line.

Live at the Great Church of Haarlem
Saturday May 19th, 2012

The Concert

The three part programme combines electronic music with classical
elements at the unique site of the Grote of St.Bavokerk, situated in
the city centre of Haarlem. Headlining musicians Ron Boots and REMY
(Stroomer) will play in front of the world famous C. Müller organ.
REMY performs one hour of music, exclusively composed for this
occasion. Besides using electronics and the grand piano, he will be
accompanied by violinists Wouter de Ruyter and Dick Bijlsma and cello
player Martine de Ket, members of the Symfonie Orkest Bloembollenstreek.
Ron Boots' part consists of a 45-minute set, inspired by the late 70s
period music of Klaus Schulze and also contains completely exclusive
music. He will be accompanied by fellow synth player Eric van der
Heijden and percussionist Harold van der Heijden. Two musicians Ron
has collaborated regularly with in the past twenty years.
The third part of 'The Return of Planet X' will see Ron Boots and REMY

Der Laborant - Kontakt - 59490 (cd)

I am of those who discovered the musical universe of Rainbow Serpent
on the late. If I remember well, the first album that I heard of this
German group was Voyager, released in 1996 and out of print since
years. I open this bracket because I believe that Rainbow Serpent,
formed by Gerd Wienekamp and Frank Specht, is one of the very good EM
bands to have passed under the radar.
Of this fact all their albums, before the Manikin years, are
discontinued for ages, including each of the solo albums of Wienekamp
and Specht. Kontakt was released in 1998 and is soaked with the
rhythms and ambiences that we found on Voyager. Evolutionary rhythms,
sometimes cosmic and technoïd, coupled to ethereal and morphic
ambiences where revolve so many beautiful orchestral arrangements as
well as electronic tones of all stripes. An album that I missed and
which reedited by the Syngate label for the biggest pleasure of our
ears, including a bonus track (Stoersignal) which completes very well
this superb musical odyssey which wants an unconfirmed, but so felt,
sequel to Voyager.
"Excelsis Dei" is a very indicator title of the ambiences and rhythms
that we find on Kontakt. Electronic tones of a spacecraft ring under
the hoops of a synth with blurred waves. Envelopes of mist cover this
opening with beautiful warm caresses which cradle the intro of
"Excelsis Dei" like a soft movement of classical music. Gregorian
choirs emerge out of the depths of cosmos, awakening beeps which
evolve along a brief bass line as well as among strange suction-cups
pulsations, while the soloing breaths of synth roam as snakes
forgotten in space-time. The whole thing is of a strange auditory
fascination; so much the tones are raining from everywhere. We have
just crossed the course of 4 minutes and a sequenced bass line spits
its staggering chords, jostling the hoops suspended in space and
propelling "Excelsis Dei" towards a delicate chaotic rhythm which
bends the spine over the strikings of a bass-drum. A bass-drum that
knocks such as the pulsations of a suction cup thirsty fo r ambience
and which forms the uncertain rhythm of "Excelsis Dei" which collects
the tribal percussions and the related tones of a purely electronic
world. In 10 minutes Gerd Wienekamp makes it a real tour de force by
displaying the shape of rhythms and ambiences that will lull Kontakt
until its finale. After a departure filled of a classical approach,
the melody of "Gefallener Engel" takes shape on stratas of violins
which sing under the vocalizes of electronic hummingbirds. The violin
layers intensify in a good staccato movement to unite those of cellos
and the breaths of oboe which lean on a good bass line with fragile
chords. Of course all is electronic, but Gerd Wienekamp weaves a so
realistic musical universe that we imagine to be in a movement of
contemporary classical music. Only some beeps and other electronic
tones thwart the mystery while a furtive rhythm accepts the sweetness
of morphic choirs to espouse a staggering approach, like a spiral with
vertical circles. "Die Ma schine" follows with the soloing breaths of
a lonely synth in which join the chants of a cosmic choir. Sequences
resound. They collide and form a chaotic beat which skips and answers
to the echo of its resonances. A true intergalactic ride, "Die
Maschine" gallops of an erratic pace under a rain of twisted solos of
which the choirs are caressing the soft curves through the nuances in
tones and forms of the sequences as well as rangy distorted solos.
Fans of Software, we are on familiar ground.
After a long ambient intro, stuffed by wandering choirs and breaths of
plaintive synth complaining in the arias of beautiful orchestral
arrangements, "Kontakt" livens up around the 5th minute with a fine
sequenced pattern where the undisciplined ions collide peacefully.
These are charming and poetic chords to crystal clear, echoing and
felted tones which agglutinate to move towards a more technoïd
approach with percussions / pulsations which fidget under a bass line
cooing on the metallic jingles of the tsitt-tsitt cymbals. And
"Kontakt" continues its technoïd crusade by amassing diverse related
tones, giving to the title-track a rhythmic depth as much fascinating
as on "Excelsis Dei"."Lazarus" offers a rather similar introductory
pattern with lines of vocalizes which float in a cosmic drift. Fine
sequences are ringing, following lost pulsations which go astray in
this cosmic waltz. A move which deviates towards an immense oblivion
submerged by absent choirs. Beautiful fluty seq uences are popping out
a little before the 6th minute. Their zigzagging steps draw a rhythm
which vacillates under the weight of these wandering choirs and nasal
synth lines before espousing a superb ascending spiral of which every
circle amasses a pleiad of composite tones. It's one of the best
tracks on Kontakt which revolves in a great progressive and complex
approach. "Verwandlungen" begins with jingles of cymbals which ring
under a mass of cosmic winds. They flitter near fine pulsations of
bass-drum to join some unexpected tribal percussions, drawing the
lines of a surprising techno, with a disco flavor, flooded by
sequences with tones of wooden percussions of which the echo resounds
under a waltzing mist. Sequences fall and swirl all around this linear
rhythm which pulsates of a hypnotic way under the blades of beautiful
twisted solos so unique at the signature of Rainbow Serpent. White
noises introduce the spectre of "Stoersignal" which quietly wakes up
around a pulsatory app roach which is similar to "Verwandlungen". The
rhythm is soft and flooded with this musical fauna to thousand and one
tones which cover all of the rhythms and ambiances of Kontakt.
Kontakt is a superb album soaked by a great musicality where melodies,
as much cadenced as cosmic, evolve on structures in constants
evolution. From ambient to rhythmic, with rhythms bordering a sweet
morphic techno, Kontakt is making us to listen all the beautiful
universe of Rainbow Serpent where the multitude of electronic tones
gives an incredible relief to this album where we recognized the
signature of Gerd Wienekamp. It's an album which pleasantly surprised
me and deeply conquered that I recommend without hesitations to all
the fans of new Berlin School of the 90's.

Specht, Frank - Sebastian im Traum 30992 (cd)

Oh, here is another splendid album from the New Berlin School
movement. Inspired by a Georg Trakl's poem about the 8 stages of
Sebastian's dreams, Frank Specht (the other half of Rainbow Serpent,
the other one being Gerd Wienekamp) concocted a wonderful musical
album where melodies weavers of ear worms bind themselves to silky and
dreamlike rhythms. Frank Specht makes a success of an impressive
challenge by putting in music a collection of poem which represents
with accuracy the meanders of dreams and its extravagant
ramifications. In the facts, the unpredictable and indomitable rhythms
as well as the melodies tangled up in dreamlike fogs which lull the
lyricism of Sebastian im Traum has privilege only the character
immensely poetic which surrounds this sublime musical work of Frank
Specht. It's another out of print work that the Syngate label reedits
in a very beautiful remix where the sonority is more crystal clear than ever.
Small shimes ring while an immense thunder tears the oniric intro of
"Traum 1 (Traumhaft klingt die Nacht)" and from then it's a wonderful
sound world which opens to our ears. For the next hour, our ears will
be enchanted by a much diversified rich musical fauna where
poly-formic layers of synths will flood rhythms fed by sequences on
crisscrossed juxtapositions. Synth waves float and cover this nest of
tinkled arpeggios which ring in a fine whirlwind of romance when a
superb synth line whistles for a wonderful melody which tears us the
soul. A fine pulsation frightens it, letting catch a glimpse of the
thick cloud of cosmic waves which float in a delicious moment of
inertia. Cymbals resound. They ring in a sphere smothered by synth
waves which undulate with an ethereal slowness. And the rhythm of
"Traum 1" carries away finely. Holding to this fusion of pulsations
and cymbals it espouses the oscillating curves of his romantic
evolution, dragging its breaths and harmonies which w ill still haunt
our ears many hours later. We haven't stop dreaming that the superb
piano of "Traum 2 (Helle Töne in dünnen Lüften)" comes to cradle our
ears of a magnificent night lullaby. The arrangements are poignant and
denote an influence of Vangelis to this cinematographic approach of
Frank Specht. It's simply splendid. All the titles from Sebastian im
Traum are interlaced in a long musical journey filled by melancholy
and romance. "Traum 3 (Unter Sternen)" pulls us towards a morphic
universe with synth breaths which roll in loop on reverberant breezes.
Choirs roam on this abstract structure which sees a crescendo settling
down as the loops pass by. A slightly hasty pulsation, as an
indecisive riff, hangs on to skip of a gallop in a place where the
dreams persist; in a wave of mist where only choirs hum an
absent-minded air while the tempo fills up its intensity by exciting
sequences to gambol into an incandescent mist which hides a fine
harmonious envelope. "Traum 4 (Wanderer im schwarzen Wald)" pursues
the bewitchment with chirpings suspended in a halieutic universe. The
intro stagnates in an ambient shell where the chirpings go astray in
the echo of the resonant bells. An indecisive sequence emerges. It
takes the shape of percussions which drum under a sky filled of
threatening streaks and fluty strata which sing with acuteness over a
hypnotic rhythm which teams up with strummed sequences and skip
ardently under suave synth solos.
The enchantress flutes of "Traum 5 (Die steinernen Stufen des
Mönchsbergs)" awaken tribal percussions which beat a robust clanic
tempo wrapped of somber synth layers which float of a threatening
approach with the hoarse breaths of Didgeridoo. Superb the synth
subdivides its lines, mixing its harmonies with acute flutes which
sing above a thunder from the tom-toms of war. This appealing rhythm
crashes on the stumbling blocks of abandoned bells, going astray
towards a Gregorian approach which does not manage to annul this
increasing rhythm, nor its aboriginal flutes. It's a rhythm which
stops dry to become soaked by water and emigrate towards the dreams of
"Traum 6 (Der blaue Quell im Grund)" and of its static rhythm which
sparkles among the drummed percussions. On a stunning pattern of
sequences which pound and sparkle in a surprising rhythmic symbiosis,
"Traum 6" is as much hypnotic and attractive as "Traum 3" but offers a
rhythm which waves in a surprising way. It's a little as a brook of
sequences which laps in a static movement but of which the droplets
are inhaled upward. A discreet melody pierces this rotary sequenced
veil. One can think of a blend of guitar and piano which goes deep to
mold a hearing attraction and winds all around the tom-toms fed of
timeless striking. Cosmic tones which couple to subdued choirs
floating among echoing hoops introduce "Traum 7 (Schon winkt zur
Sternenreise die Nacht)". This longest title of Sebastian im Traum
offers an intro as ambient as romantic which sees its tranquility
perturbed by distant tom-toms. The movement increases with slowness,
flooded that it is by these wandering choirs which breathe in the
strides of the dense synth layers while from nowhere appears a train
which knocks down "Traum 7" towards an oniric cosmic passage. There
where sequences pound in crisscrossed lines under the wonderful
breaths of philharmonic synth. This static rhythm swirls under a thick
cloud of celestial choirs, leading this 7th part towards a poignant
harmonious final. Hesitating synth layers are floating in a cosmic
echo à la Jean Michel Jarre, pushing "Traum 8 (Erwachen im kindlichen
Garten)" and its wave-like sequences as well as its wooden percussions
towards rattling cymbals. Slowly the rhythm settles down under a bed
of polyrhythmic sequences. Sequences which boil a static rhythm while
others draw an oscillating melodious line to finally formed a
symbiosis cadenced under lines of synth to breaths of clay.
Sebastian im Traum is a wonderful musical adventure where the rhythms
and melodies forged straight from Frank Specht's lyrical sensibility
go deep in our eardrums to create a fascinating introspective journey
which will mold our dreams and its fantasies. It's also an impressive
weaving of synth layers which form rhythms and ambiences but also very
beautiful melodies with angelic airs which are courting some rhythms
weaved in an impressive pattern of sequences to strikes and tones as
varied as harmonious. In brief a splendid album which always attracts
me and still, sign of a timeless work deserving of the major musical
and harmonic works of Vangelis and Mike Oldfield, on a background of
Berlin School.
