(Harmonic Decadence) (1978)
You can now pre order it with a special 10 % discount until September 8th

The first studio recording Harmonic Decadence
now rediscovered in full length on D.MO Vol.4
Since the release of Robert's official debut album Harmonic Ascendant
the world of the EM community has discussed rumours about a
recording called Harmonic Decadence. Before the first official
Vinyl-LP-Release (IC / WEA), Robert started his first studio recording i
n the same recording studio Panne-Paulssen (Frankfurt/Main)
in 1978, where also numerous European artists such as Klaus Schulze, Ashra
/Manuel Göttsching and Harald Großkopf have recorded their works.
However, these first recording of Schroeder was rejected by the WEA
because it was too "electronic". At first, the debut album should also be
named Harmonic Decadence. After refusing this first recording of 1978,
Schroeder went back to the studio, where the well-known debut album
Harmonic Ascendant arose.
In the meantime the first recording Harmonic Decadence was somehow
forgotten. Some extracts have also been used occasionally, e.g. within the
INKEYS interview from the early 80s. But the complete work of this first recording has
been published never before.
The tapes went lost in the depths of the tape archives over the time.
The demand for these recordings is still great. In the year 2017
Robert searched through his archive ... and found the old
original recordings as a master copy on a high quality music cassette.
The sound is not up to date due to its age but has its charme and
now been re-mastered. And of course this material is something what the
fans are waiting for.
You can now pre order it with a special 10 % discount until September 8th

22425 Dart, Stan - Ecclesia

Realized on SynGate Wave, “Ecclesia” meets the expectations of the
German label division with an impressive visit in music of the
Cathedral Saint Gilles of Graz, Austria, composed by Richard Hasiba,
better known under the name of Stan Dart. Recognized for his very
melodious approach, Stan Dart is at a 2nd solo opus. And I must admit
that's an impressive tour de force with about 2 hours of music which
flirts with a New Synth-Pop, New Age and a rather comfortable EDM
which is ideal for ears a little less adventurous. It's while working
on his first solos album, Hometown Memories in 2016 which is inspired
by Stan Dart's home town (Graz), that the Austrian musician plunged
into the mysteries of this impressive cathedral with a very Gothic
architecture. EM inspired by a church? That's the question asked by
Stan Dart. And why not? The aficionados of Berlin School, as the
England School (Robert Fox's Cathedral to name only this one), are
used to th e cathedral moods which encircle a sequencer-based style
EM. Except that here we are not in the borders of Berlin School but
rather in those of Enigma or yet ERA with, here and there, a weak but
a weak link which ties to the atmospheres of the old German model of
EM. And I tell it to you frankly, I spent a very good moment to savor
an album which didn’t tell me that much at its first listening and
which hides however some very beautiful moments.
It's with a tick-tock from a clock that the ambiences of "Ecclesia I"
infiltrate our listening room. The rhythm which comes of there is
rather lively with a structure of mid-tempo where spin some slow
stroboscopic effects and float murmurs of angels. There is a little
suite of melodious chords which hangs onto our sense of hearing and
which gets lost as the music wins in a techno rhythm pushed by violin
wings. This melody will come back farther haunting again my listening
which got lost when the music changed of register. "In Nomine (In t he
Name...)" follows with the same skeleton but in an approach more in
the kind of New Synth-Pop, otherwise of good EDM. The breathes from
the synth are rather attractive and drag us out of a universe which
begun to graze my ears. But we always stay in the light and easily
edible thing here. "Vita" changes the situation with a structure which
is very near the IDM of Moonbooter. One likes it? You shall doubtless
love "Vox Praeteritum (Voice from the Past)" which stars Lukas Hasiba
on guitar, as well as the very EDM track "Sanctus". "Deus Misere (God
Have Mercy)" is the first thing that caught my attention in
“Ecclesia”. The rhythm is slow and sways to the beatings of the
tom-toms. A very beautiful melody, attached by a delicate piano,
pierces my eardrums and stays encrust deep there with its musical
itch. The whole thing is wrapped of very nice beautiful ambiences
which seem ideal for an evening fire in the Sahara. The Gregorian
choirs a la Enigma, which are omnipresent in this doub l e album, are
concealed by a very beautiful melodic approach. It's a very
mesmerizing title, as the mysterious "Hora Tenebrarum (The Dark
Hour)", whose movement of sequences does very Berlin School and which
also lay down a melody strummed in vibes deliciously mysterious.
Between those two tracks there is "Malum (The Evil)" where the more or
less ambient rhythm evokes a union between Synth Pop and New Age. The
voice of Petra Bonmassar is in the tone. We also find it on "Via
Laboriosa (The Ardous Way)" which is more theatrical and slightly more
lively. To my surprise, the versions proposed without her
participation, farther on the CD 2, have less flavor. "Ascensus (The
Ascent)" is a track filled of very lugubrious moods, with strange
gurgling, which gives cold in the back. "Hiems (Winter in the Heart)",
which stars Mark Dorricott on piano, is a beautiful ballad in the pure
style of Stan Dart. One gulps down easily and the melody eats our
eardrums. "Lacrimosa Caeli" (The Lord is my Shepard)" begins the 2nd
CD of “Ecclesia” with a liturgical slow tempo wrapped in a rather
cinematographic envelope. The atmospheres are rather sober in a
mixture of ERA and Enigma. If the monk chants are in Latin, the psalm
is murmured in German by Hans Pock. "Exsurge Domine (Arise, O Lord)"
is a nice little delicious title which mixes the mysteries of a Latin
psalm in very Vangelis moods. The chants annoy me, but the music and
the moods a la Blade Runner, a movie which is at the origin of the
album Midnight, get the upper hand fast. "Ecclesia II" ends this opus
with ecclesiastical character by an approach a little livelier than
"Ecclesia I". After the instrumental versions of "Via Laboriosa" and
"Malum", Stan Dart proposes a clearly more lounge, even sensual
version, of "Vita", so concluding an album of which the diversity in
the rhythms of EDM is dominated by this very Enigma / ERA approach and
also by these obsessing melodies which are Stan Dart's signature.

70185 SEQUENTIA LEGENDA - Ethereal

A splendid synth layer sculpted in ether spreads its wavering horizons
and anchors "Stratums of Seraphic Voices" very solidly at the bottom
of our eardrums. The percussions which follow adopt a charmingly
hypnotic pace. A pace that several will recognize in the one that
Klaus Schulze exposed in 77, with the Body Love album and the track
Nowhere - Now Here, but in a clearly slower structure and a more
morphic one. Built around 3 long tracks with slow minimalist
evolutions, “Ethereal” is an album conceived in homage to the
legendary Moog Modular and by ricochet to Klaus Schulze and his
musical mirages. And digging for those delicious perfumes of the old
days which rocked and flooded our ears for a too short period of time,
Laurent Schieber signs here an album more than seducing which respects
this will of Sequentia Legenda to recreate the atmospheres of retro
Berlin School. In its minimalist envelope, holed of beautiful nuances
which amplify t h e charms of the ethereal voices, "Stratums of
Seraphic Voices" presents an intrusive structure with a pace which
wins subtly in velocity and clearly more aggressive percussions. From
its anesthetic shape, the music became more lively with a good game of
the percussions and with cosmic effects from a synth which is more
discreet at the level of the solos, there is none, but which is also
more generous at the level of the textures of voices and layers filled
of soft fragrances of ether. About 30 minutes on a minimalist morphic
theme which ran out without any feeling of lassitude! There was only
Klaus Schulze to make a success of such exploit. Laurent Schieber does
as the master and this to perfection.
"Around the Second Moon" is a superb title which shows that Sequentia
Legenda doesn't feed his repertoire by imitating systematically Klaus
Schulze. Always in a minimalist approach, the music skips slightly in
a deliciously organic and stroboscopic form. This a little bit unusual
rhy thmic loop is fed of effects which squeak and which vacillate in
mini circular structures and in immense anesthetic layers. The tempo
is structured on tom-tom percussions among which the beatings, which
never run out, go to the opposite sense of the perpetual loops which
are still squeaking. The percussions inject a vibe of acid electronic
rock at the gate of the 7th minute. These percussions pull the
hypnotic rhythm of "Around the Second Moon" towards an even more
explosive tangent after the 13th minute point. Between these phases,
Sequentia Legenda decorates his music of various effects and of layers
always so foggy. Besides, this last very puzzling phase and the
movement of the sequences which squeak literally remind me in of the
track The Who in Won't Get Fooled Again. A delight for those who like
when that rocks! This wild movement loses of its swiftness towards the
17th minute by being swallowed and smothered by a seraphic choir. And
beneath a dense nebulosity of those huge l a yers of voices, the
sleeping beat seeks always to be reanimated. I found that as much good
than beautiful and original. "Elevation" brings us back to the
Moondawn period of Klaus Schulze with huge shoals of fog and of faded
voices which enclose a structure which always gets vivificated beneath
the embraces of sedative layers. There is storm below these layers. A
storm arisen from the percussions of which the keen and heavy rollings
are forced to the anonymity, so much the strength of the shoals
injects continually an anesthetizing effect in a rhythmic which
doesn't stop hammering its mute revolt. It's around at the 14th minute
that "Elevation" gets loosens from the layers of mist and voices,
drifting into a superb rhythmic debacle worthy of the great master of
analog rhythms and sounds who is also at the origin of Sequentia
Legenda's music. I am not certain, but I believe to hear the whistling
of a synth roaming towards the finale. And it's the only slight
drawback to this wonderfu l music of “Ethereal”; the lack of synth
solos. As soon as Laurent Schieber will be less hampered and will be
free of any constraints, his music will shine in the firmament of the
big names of EM. But that doesn't change the fact to “Ethereal” is a
great journey in the time of the analog. Offered on real CD in a nice
Digipack as well as in a download format, “Ethereal” is a must to all
fans of Klaus Schulze, era 76-77.
